About Me

I'm On A Mission To Get You Driving

I am an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with the Driving and Vehicles Standards Agency (DVSA). My love of driving started back in 1983 when I first passed my Motorcycle and Car licenses. Since then, I have driven numerous types of vehicles all over the world. It has given me an independence second to none. This is what I want to give my students the ability to have.

I want to share my passion and experience for driving and riding with my students. Some of my personal learning experiences have come from learning from my mistakes and that’s what every student faces when they are learning to drive.

Why I Do This

Why Me?

As a retired police officer, I saw and attended incidents that I hope I can help reduce by training students to become safe and proficient drivers, not just to pass a test. My driver training from the police was second to none, I was an advanced police driver during my career and have done numerous other courses to support that. I saw the effects of poor driving, this wasn’t just down to people making bad choices, but also they didn’t understand what they should be doing or the rules of being a safe driver. The DVSA has worked hard to put in place a highway code to help try and make our roads safer, but if you don’t understand how to drive or know how to put this into practise it increases the risk on the road.

So, I decided to become a driving instructor.

I will always be honest with my students. You will get my complete attention during your lessons and your learning is personalised to your needs, I even adapt at times  during the lesson if needed. Every student is unique and learns differently, that’s why there is always an assessment or introductory lesson first. It allows me to see you and for my students to see if I am suitable for them to achieve their independence on the road. I always seek feedback to see how I can further develop students.

I want to make you a safe and proficient driver

To achieve this, I set objectives with my students for us both to achieve by the end of their training:

  1. To be able to drive safely on all roads and to understand why the highway code has rules in place.
  2. The learning is around the students needs and focusing on their development. By being patient, improving their and my understanding of why and appropriate feedback on how we go forward. It’s a two-way process.
  3. Learning at home is important as it allows more time with me on the road driving and not sitting too long at the side of the road.
  4. To be honest with you, even if it’s hard to take.
